Thunderstorms expected to move through area, transitioning to snow later – Chicago Tribune


Weather officials say there is a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday morning as a band of storms move through the area transitioning into snow later this evening.

National Weather Service officials expect a limited thunderstorm risk as a band of storms move along and east of Interstate 55 between between noon and 4 p.m..

With the storm, up to an inch in size hail, and winds up to 60 mph is expected, officials said. Wind gusts up to 55 mph are expected from 2 to 8 p.m..

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport is fog and mist at 42 degrees. Farther south at Midway Airport conditions are light drizzle with fog and mist at 43 degrees.
