Pakistan government approves construction of gas pipeline from Iran, it will help in meeting energy needs.

After several years of delay in the construction of the first phase in Pakistan, the interim government has approved the project. This step has been taken a few days before the new government takes charge after the general elections.

Acting on the recommendation of the Petroleum Division, the government has supported starting the project in the initial phase from the Pakistan-Iran border to the port city of Gwadar in Balochistan province.

The caretaker government of Pakistan finally gave approval to start the construction work of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. This pipeline will help address the energy needs of the cash-strapped country. The construction work of this pipeline has been stalled for a long time.

The interim government has approved the project after several years of delay in construction of the first phase of 80 kilometers inside Pakistan.

This step has been taken a few days before the new government takes charge after the general elections held on February 8. Acting on the recommendation of the Petroleum Division, the government has supported starting the project in the initial phase from the Pakistan-Iran border to the port city of Gwadar in Balochistan province.

“All concerned divisions have given positive approval to go ahead with the project to ensure gas supply to the people of Pakistan,” a statement said. With this the increasing energy needs of the country can be met.
