11-year-old child among 5 people shot in Dorchester

An 11-year-old child was among five people injured during a Wednesday night shooting in Dorchester, according to Boston police.

Officers responded to 10 Greenwood St. for a reported shooting at about 9:48 p.m., the Boston Police Department said in a news release. 

Upon arrival, police found five people with apparent gunshot wounds: An 11-year-old child, a 21-year-old man, a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman, and a 20-year-old woman. All five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals, police said.

Officers also found a car with ballistic damage nearby on Washington Street, according to the release. 

“On a summer night like this, we want to make sure that every single street in every community, every part of our city should be enjoyable,” Mayor Michelle Wu said at a press conference Wednesday night, per NBC10 Boston video. “And unfortunately tonight, we saw that we have a lot more work to do.” 

A Boston Police Department spokesperson confirmed there had been no arrests in connection with the shooting as of Thursday morning.
