For the second time in two weeks, a body was discovered at a Brockton wastewater treatment plant.

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, a man’s body was found in the water at the treatment plan, which is located at 303 Oak Hill Way. According to a Brockton Enterprise report, the family of a man who had been missing since late May says the deceased person was Robert McCarthy. Authorities have not publicly identified the body.

McCarthy’s cousin, Marnie McCarthy, told the news outlet that investigators don’t suspect foul play in his death. McCarthy, who was reportedly homeless, had gone missing on May 23 and had been checking in with family until then.

In the report, Marnie McCarthy said her cousin leaves behind four kids, and was “funny, energetic, someone who would give you the shirt off his back.” She shared news of his passing in a Facebook post Thursday.

“Thank you to everybody who shared my cousin’s missing post. With a heavy heart I have to inform everybody that his body was found today,” she wrote. “We will not know anything until an autopsy is done.”

It was the second time a body washed up at the Brockton facility in as many weeks. On May 24, workers at the treatment plant discovered the body of an adult man floating in the water. 

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said no foul play was suspected in that incident.
