Pakistan Punjab CM On Monday, Maryam is going to be elected as the first woman Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province. PMLN and its allies have a simple majority in the House, so there is no problem in their occupying the top position. PMLN has also captured both the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Punjab Assembly.
Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is going to be elected as the first woman Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province on Monday. This is because Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) and its allies have a simple majority in the House, so there is no problem in their occupying the top position.
Meanwhile, PMLN has captured both the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Punjab Assembly. The election for the post of Chief Minister will be between PMLN’s 50-year-old Maryam Nawaz and Imran Khan’s PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) candidate Rana Aftab Ahmed.
Malik Ahmed Khan became the patron of the house
In the marathon session of the Punjab Assembly on Saturday, MPs elected PML-N leader Malik Ahmed Khan as the patron of the house and Zaheer Iqbal Channar as the deputy speaker through secret ballot. Meanwhile, senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader Syed Owais Shah was elected Speaker of the Sindh Provincial Assembly on Sunday, while the party’s Christian face Anthony Naveed was elected Deputy Speaker. He has become the first non-Muslim Vice President in the history of the country.
Meanwhile, United Kashmir People’s National Party has strongly condemned the arrest of party vice president Rashid Ahmed in Muzaffarabad division by Pakistan Police. The ban on internet media platform X in Pakistan continued for the eighth day.
Barrister Ali Zafar withdraws from race for PTI President post
Amid the leadership crisis in Imran Khan’s party PTI, Barrister Ali Zafar on Sunday withdrew his name for the post of party president. Barrister Gauhar Ali Khan had announced the name of Barrister Ali Zafar for PTI President before the internal elections of the party. Barrister Ali Zafar said that due to his involvement in bringing Imran out of jail, he is withdrawing from the field due to the possibility of conflict of interest if he becomes the party president.
