NYPD says police searching for nonverbal autistic Queens teen who went missing Monday

Police said they’re searching for an autistic teen who went missing from his Queens home on Monday afternoon.

May Chad, 18, was riding a white mountain bike in front of his house on Mentone Avenue near Laurelton Parkway in Jamaica when he disappeared at around 5 p.m., NYPD officials said on Tuesday.

Chad was with his aide at the time, police said, and had never run away before.

Police said Chad is nonverbal and described him as 5’5” and about 130 pounds, with brown eyes and a slim build. He was last seen wearing a gray and green hooded sweatshirt, a black and white T-shirt and black sneakers.

NYPD officers planned to scour local hospitals Tuesday morning and said they would use drones and helicopters to try to track down the teen.

Police asked anyone with information about Chad to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
