JOSIAH ADAMSON

CATHOLIC MEMORIAL

Despite being only a freshman, Adamson was sensational in every aspect of the game this winter. Adamson scored 19 points per game while also averaging six rebounds to lead Catholic Memorial to the Div. 1 State semifinals. The six-foot-3 guard earned Co-MVP of the Catholic Conference. Adamson is expected to catch eyes this spring and summer as a member of Expression Elite on the club circuit.

JAYLEN HUNTER-COLEMAN

CHARLESTOWN

Hunter-Coleman was one of the premier guards in Massachusetts this winter as the sophomore averaged 22 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals a night. His play helped lead the Townies to their first state championship since 2005. Despite being only a sophomore, Hunter-Coleman has already surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau. He earned 2024 Boston City League Player of the Year honors and is a high-honors student in the classroom.

JAYLIN WILLIAMS-CRAWFORD

CHARLESTOWN

Williams-Crawford did it all for Charlestown as the small forward helped guide the Townies to the Div. 3 State title. The junior averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds a game and earned the Boston City Championship MVP. Williams-Crawford arguably saved his best for last as he tallied 26 points and 13 rebounds in the Townies’ state final win over Old Rochester.

MATTHEW GAFFNEY

MALDEN CATHOLIC

Gaffney catapulted Malden Catholic to the top of Div. 2 once again as the junior guard led the Lancers to their third consecutive state championship. A two-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic, Gaffney scored 1,000th career point this past winter in an opening round state tournament win over Oliver Ames. A member of the National Honor Society, Gaffney plays for Middlesex Magic on the club basketball circuit.

ZACH WOLINSKI

NORTH ANDOVER

Wolinski earned a spot on the Boston Herald Dream Team for the second consecutive season as he scored 19 points per game. The senior point guard’s play earned him Merrimack Valley Conference MVP honors and guided North Andover to a spot in the Div. 1 State Quarterfinals. Wolinski finished with 1,299 career points. Also a star on the football field, Wolinski will continue his basketball career next year at Wesleyan University.

 

ALL-SCHOLASTICS

STEPHAN BARNES

WALTHAM

Waltham had a season to remember with much of it due to Barnes’ play. The senior point guard averaged 20.1 points and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 44-percent from the field. Barnes’ play earned him DCL Foley League Player of the Year. A three-time league all star, Barnes finished his career with 1,121 career points. A member of the National Honor Society, Barnes will attend Rivier University in the fall.

LORENZO CARRARA

XAVERIAN

Carrara poured in 22 points and five rebounds a night to lead Xaverian to the Div. 1 State semifinals. The senior forward earned Catholic Conference all-star for his efforts and finished his career as a 1,000-point scorer. A member of National Honor Society, Carrara will be continuing his academic and playing career at Gettysburg College.

DAN CIVELLO

BC HIGH

Civello was one of the premier centers in Eastern Mass as he averaged 14.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and three blocks per game. His play earned him Catholic Conference all-star and led BC High to a spot in the Div. 1 State quarterfinals. A member of National Honor Society, Civello will continue his academic and playing career at Colby College in the fall.

BRIAN CLOONAN

NEEDHAM

Cloonan was instrumental for Needham once again in 2024. One year after helping guide the Rockets to the Div. 1 State final, the senior guard averaged 20.6 points and six rebounds to earn Bay State Herget MVP honors. A two-time league MVP in basketball, Cloonan is also a two-time state champion as a member of Needham’s volleyball program. He will continue his basketball playing career at McKenna College in Southern California.

CADE FURSE

MANCHESTER-ESSEX

Furse finished off his career in style as the six-foot-two combo guard scored 23 points and tallied six rebounds a night to lead Manchester-Essex to the Div. 4 State quarterfinal. A four year starter, Furse led the Hornets to the Cape Ann Baker Division title in each of his years with the program. Furse is set to do a postgraduate year at Phillips Exeter beginning in the fall.

RYAN HIGGINS

CATHOLIC MEMORIAL

The senior shooting guard was the co-Most Valuable Player of the Catholic Conference after averaging more than 18 points a game in leading the Knights to the Div. 1 State semifinals. A two-time Catholic Conference All-Star selection, Higgins is on the Principal’s List at the school. He will continue his basketball career at Roger Williams in the fall.

BEN HOWARD

MALDEN CATHOLIC

Howard stepped up for Malden Catholic all season long as the Lancers center established himself in the paint at both ends of the floor. For the season, the junior averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds a night to help Malden Catholic win a third consecutive Div. 2 State title. Howard is also a standout member of the Lancers football team and is looking to pursue a career on the gridiron in college.

NATE KATZNELSON

SHARON

Sharon’s run to the Div. 2 State Final was largely engineered by Katznelson. The senior power forward was a difficult guard as he displayed the ability to score both inside and out. Katznelson scored 20 points to go with eight rebounds a night while shooting 38-percent from three point land. He also scored his 1,000th career point in Sharon’s Round of 16 win over Northampton. A Hockomock League all-star, Katznelson is set to study accounting at Bryant University.

AJAY LOPES

WAREHAM

Lopes once again was a star as the senior point guard scored 17 points and averaged seven assists to lead Wareham to a second straight Div. 4 State Title. A two-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic, Lopes is also a star on the gridiron where he captured the Mayflower League MVP award last fall. Lopes has intentions of pursuing a postgraduate year beginning in the fall in hopes of continuing his basketball career.

JAVI LOPEZ

CENTRAL CATHOLIC

Lopez broke out as one of Eastern Massachusetts’ premier underclassmen scoring 18 points to go with four rebounds a night. The sophomore shooting guard guided Central Catholic to the Div. 1 Round of 16 and was first team all-conference selection in the Merrimack Valley Conference. Combined with his freshman year output, Lopez has already scored 657 career points. Lopez plays with Mass Rivals on the club basketball circuit.

OBBIE LUCIANO

LAWRENCE

Luciano was the centerpiece of Lawrence’s success this winter. The senior shooting guard poured in an impressive 26.7 points per night to go with 11 rebounds to lead the Lancers to the Div. 1 State quarterfinals. A first team all-conference selection for the Merrimack Valley, Luciano finished his career with over 850 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 steals. The number one student in Lawrence’s graduating class, Luciano plans to attend Yale University in the fall.

HUNTER MATTESON

DARTMOUTH

Matteson dominated once again this winter posting 23.5 points and 11.3 rebounds a night to earn Southeastern Conference MVP honors. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound senior forward finished his career as Dartmouth’s all-time leading scorer as he tallied 1,477 points. A member of the National Honor Society, Matteson will be playing basketball and studying physical education at Springfield College.

BRENDAN MCDONALD

SOMERSET BERKLEY

Somerset Berkley had a season to remember with McDonald leading the charge. The junior point guard posted 14.8 points and 4.2 assists a year to guide Somerset Berkley to 20 wins and the Div. 2 State semifinals. Also a member of the football team, McDonald will head into his senior campaign with 915 total points. McDonald plays for BCRI on the club circuit and intends to play college basketball once his high school career concludes.

JACOB MCLOUGHLIN

SHARON

McLoughlin was a difficult cover for opponents all winter as the senior averaged 17.7 points and five assists to lead Sharon to the Div. 2 State Final. A two-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic, McLoughlin finished his career with 930 points, 298 assists, and 158 steals. A Hockomock League all-star, McLoughlin is undecided on his future plans.

SEAN O’LEARY

FRANKLIN

O’Leary saved his best for last. The Franklin forward scored 16.6 points to go with five rebounds a night to earn Hockomock League MVP and lead the Panthers to the Div. 1 State final. The Panthers heart and soul, O’Leary finished his career as a 1,000-point scorer. O’Leary, who was also a league all-star as a member of Franklin’s soccer team, is set to continue his basketball playing career at Bates beginning in the fall.

LUCA PALERMO

ANDOVER

Palermo broke out as one of the top underclassmen in Eastern Mass. this winter as the forward tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds a game to earn Merrimack Valley Conference Large player of the year. His efforts guided Andover to the Div. 1 Round of 16. At 6-foot-6, Palermo controlled play for the Golden Warriors inside at both ends of the floor. Palermo plays for Mass Rivals on the club basketball circuit.

CONNOR PEASE

ABINGTON

The South Shore League Tobin Division Player of the Year, Pease led Abington to the Div. 3 Round of 16 and a league championship. A two-time league all-star, Pease is also a member of the Green Wave’s football and lacrosse teams. Pease is a four-year honor roll student and plays for Rise Above Basketball on the AAU circuit.

MICHAEL PORTER

SCITUATE

Porter was the catalyst for Scituate’s high-powered offense as the senior guard scored 18 points a night to Patriot League Fisher MVP honors. Porter’s play led Scituate to a league championship and to a berth in the Div. 2 State quarterfinals. A two-year captain for the Sailors, Porter will continue his basketball career at Ithaca College in the fall.

NATHAN REYNOLDS

BOURNE

Reynolds did it all for Bourne putting up 21 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks a night to guide Bourne to the Div. 4 State Final. The 2023-24 South Coast Conference’s MVP, Reynolds scored the 1,000 point of his career this past season. Reynolds is also a South Coast Conference all-star as the Canalmen’s goalkeeper and is a member of the tennis team. A member of National Honor Society, Reynolds is undecided on his plans after high school being only a junior.

JAEDEN ROBERTS

BURKE

A combo guard, Roberts led the Boston City League in scoring as he averaged 28.2 points per game. Roberts’ excellence on the court led Burke to a 20-5 record and a spot in the Div. 4 State Semifinals. Roberts currently sits at 1,312 points for his career and has led the Bulldogs to a 49-15 record during his playing career. Only a junior, Roberts promises to be one of the premier players next winter.

CEDRIC RODRIGUEZ

BURLINGTON

Rodriguez was one of Eastern Mass. premier players averaging 24 points and 10 rebounds a night to lead Burlington to a 15 win campaign. The Middlesex League Freedom Division MVP, Rodriguez scored his 1,000th career point this past winter. Rodriguez finishes his career as Burlington’s all-time leading scorer with 1,338 points.

TRISTAN RODRIGUEZ

ARCHBISHOP WILLIAMS

Rodriguez tortured opponents with his scoring abilities on a nightly basis. The senior guard posted 25 points a night to go with five rebounds to capture the Catholic Central League’s MVP award. Rodriguez helped Archbishop Williams capture the Div. 3 State title in 2023. A 1,000-point scorer and also a member of the football team, Rodriguez is undecided on his future plans.

DAVON SANDERS

MANSFIELD

Sanders had a terrific senior year scoring 19 points per game to earn Hockomock League all-star and guide Mansfield to the Hockomock Davenport title. Sanders’ play led Mansfield to a 20-win campaign and a spot in the Div. 2 State quarterfinals. Also a member of Mansfield’s baseball team, Sanders is uncommitted on his college plans but does hope to play basketball at the next level.

CAMDYN SHOESMITH

BEDFORD

Shoesmith was Bedford’s anchor at both ends of the floor as the 6-foot-4, 220-pound power forward averaged a double-double to guide the Bucs to a spot in the Div. 2 State semifinal. Shoesmith’s play led Bedford to a Dual County League title. A four year varsity starter and two-time captain, Shoesmith is undecided on his future plans but has aspirations of playing basketball at the collegiate level.

TEAGAN SWINT

NEWTON NORTH

Swint followed up an impressive sophomore year with an even better junior year. The guard tallied 24 points and 7.4 rebounds a night to lead Newton North to the Div. 1 Round of 16. Set to be one of the top players in Eastern Mass. next winter, Swint plays for Middlesex Magic on the club basketball circuit.

JEFFERY WHITE

CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge returned to being a Div. 1 contender this winter with White at the center of the Falcons success. The small forward averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Cambridge to a Dual County League title and a 16 win season. White plans to study business administration with the hopes of owning his own business one day following graduation.

MATT YOUNGQUIST

MIDDLEBORO

Middleboro made a Cinderella run to the Div. 2 State quarterfinal as the tournament’s No. 38 seed and Youngquist was at the center of it all. The senior guard poured in 19 points and eight rebounds per game for the season and scored 25 points per game in the state tournament. The South Shore League Sullivan MVP, Youngquist finished his career averaging over 17 points a night. He plans to attend Rivier University to continue his basketball career.
