Trump and Vance to hold rally on Saturday in Atlanta

Republican Presidential and Vice Presidential nominees Donald Trump and JD Vance will be in Atlanta on Saturday for a rally.

The event will be held at the Georgia State University Convocation Center, the same venue where presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris held her rally on Tuesday night.

The GSU Convocation Center, located at 455 Capitol Ave. in Summerhill, will open its doors at 1 p.m. and the program will start at 5 p.m.

There is expected to be heavy traffic in the area, and intermittent road closures. Pollard Boulevard will close in the afternoon and reopen at 8 p.m. after the rally’s end.

Three of Georgia’s top Republicans – Gov. Brian Kemp Attorney General Chris Carr, and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger – said they won’t be attending the rally.

Former GOP Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, who has endorsed Harris, also won’t be there and explained why in a pointed Friday morning post on X addressed to Trump supporter and former Georgia Senator Josh McKoon.

Trump gave a combative interview to members of the National Association of Black Journalists on Wednesday that was condemned by Democrats and Republicans after he questioned Harris’ race.

Meanwhile, Harris will be back in Georgia on Aug. 9 with a campaign stop in Savannah. Her campaign raised over $310 milion in July after President Joe Biden announced he would leave the race and endorsed his vice president.
