Canada: Three members of the same family died in house fire, remains of Indian origin couple and minor daughter found.
Three members of a family died in a house fire in Canada’s Ontario province. The dead include an Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter. The incident took place on March 7, but was reported on Friday. The remains have been identified as those of all three members of an Indian family.
The family lived in the Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive area of Brampton. According to news agency PTI, investigators said they could not ascertain the number of people killed. Information about this incident was given by a neighbor of the family after which the police reached the spot. However, as soon as the fire was extinguished, they found what were believed to be human remains.
The family was identified as Rajiv Warikoo, 51, his wife, Shilpa Kotha, 47, and their 16-year-old daughter Mehak Warikoo. Local media reports said police have not yet determined the cause of the fire and are treating it as ‘suspicious’.
In a press release, police said they were continuing to investigate the deaths of three family members and urged anyone with information to come forward.
