From Barnstable County to Berkshire, thousands people in Massachusetts are still without power after a wintery mix Nor’easter blew through the state overnight into Thursday morning.

Just under 9,500 people are experiencing power outages as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday as the storm finishes, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency reported. At its peak Thursday morning, more than 31,000 people were without power across the state.

The outages are wide-spread, but outages are more concentrated near Central Massachusetts and near Merrimack Valley.

By 11:15 a.m., the Nor’easter – which brought high winds, snow, sleet and rain to New England – had moved out of Massachusetts into northern New England.

About 9,300 of National Grid’s customers are without power, a spokesperson said around 5 p.m. National Grid’s peak outage affected nearly 28,000 customers.

“National Grid has had more than 570 crews and nearly 1,800 personnel to respond to the impacts of this storm as part of the company’s emergency response operations,” National Grid said. “This includes overhead line, forestry, contractors, underground, damage assessment, wires down, transmission, and substation workers.”

Around 5 p.m., spokesperson for Eversource said they are working to restore power for only 331 customers in Massachusetts. Then, they’re sending the crews to New Hampshire where more than 109,000 people are without power.

Downed trees and felled tree limbs are severely affecting service in New Hampshire, Eversource spokesperson Priscilla Ress said. After up to 12 inches of snow and widespread power outages last week, trees were already weakened by ice and snow ahead of Wednesday night’s Nor’easter.
