Three men were arrested on charges of robbery, kidnapping, and assault after allegedly holding up a Roxbury barber shop and then barricading themselves in a Dorchester home during an hours-long standoff with police.

Hendrick Davis, 41, of Brockton, Eric Hines, 32, of Roslindale, and James Mendes, 32, of Randolph, are accused of holding the owner of Edward’s Barbershop on Blue Hill Avenue and several customers at gunpoint during a robbery around 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Investigators say after the robbery, the men fled in a car and then barricaded themselves in an Adams Street home for several hours.

According to a Boston Globe report, a SWAT team responded to the residence and negotiated with the suspects around 9:40 p.m. Two of the suspects were arrested without incident, but police had to “forcibly remove” the third suspect using gas, according to the paper.

“I would like to say how proud I am of our officers for their restraint, their professionalism, and their de-escalation tactics in removing these three individuals from the home without any incident, any injury to anybody,” Deputy Superintendent Joseph Gillespie told reporters outside the Adams Street home on Thursday night.

The men were due to be arraigned Friday in Roxbury District Court. Charges include larceny of a firearm, armed robbery, carrying a firearm without a license, drug possession, kidnapping, and assault with a weapon.
