Sandy Springs held a ribbon cutting for its new Fleet Maintenance Center on Monday.

The city will use the facility at 8475 Roswell Road to install, maintain, and upgrade vehicle technology systems as well as retrofit special vehicle equipment, according to the city.

The center will provide staff with a full-service area to fuel fleet vehicles, check fluid levels, and replace wiper blades, but will not be used for general mechanical repairs.

The facility includes vehicle service bays, a fueling station, office space, parking, and an outdoor picnic area.

“I know that some of our neighborhoods have a little bit of concern about the building. I think that has been alleviated somewhat by the building being such a nice-looking facility,” Mayor Rusty Paul said at Monday’s ribbon cutting.

Another benefit is the regular police presence as vehicles will be driving in and out of the facility throughout the day. This will create the perception of a higher level of public safety attention being paid to the north end of town, Paul said.

The Fleet Maintenance Center will ensure that Sandy Springs maintains the advantage of being the best-equipped group of first responders anywhere, the mayor stated.
