Ukraine’s drone attack on Russian steel factory. This attack caused a fire in a large part of the factory. This factory supplies 18 percent of Russia’s total steel production. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that his army will continue fighting until victory in the war. The factory produces raw materials used in manufacturing missiles, tanks and drones.
February 24 marked two years since the Russian military crackdown on Ukraine. In these two years, neither Russia nor Ukraine accepted defeat, while both suffered huge loss of life and property. Even though Russia and Ukraine are fighting this war, most of the countries of the world (except India) are standing face to face. On the second anniversary of the attack, the Ukrainian military carried out a drone attack on a large steel factory in the Russian city of Lipetsk. Due to this attack, a large part of the factory caught fire. This factory supplies 18 percent of Russia’s total steel production.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that his forces will continue fighting until victory in the war. According to Ukrainian sources, the factory in Lipetsk produces raw materials used in the manufacturing of missiles, tanks and drones. So this is an indirect attack on the Russian military and it is Ukraine’s right to do so. Whereas the factory administration had clarified in an earlier statement that it does not produce steel used in military equipment.
In the videos that have surfaced from the factory, flames are seen coming out and smoke is seen in the sky. There is no report of any death in the drone attack. Production work in the factory has been stopped for the time being. Teams have reached the spot to assess the cause of the fire, rescue measures and damage. Russian officials have said that Ukraine tried to carry out continuous drone attacks last night in Lipetsk, Kursk and Tula, but most of the drones were shot down. While a drone attack by the Russian Army in Odessa city of Ukraine caused a fire in a building and one person was killed.
EU leaders reach Kiev, assure to stand together
President Zelensky hosted a meeting of European Union (EU) leaders in Kiev on Saturday, the second anniversary of the Ukraine war. The meeting was held at a time when Ukrainian forces facing Russia are facing shortage of arms and ammunition. President Zelensky posted a video of the meeting on Internet media. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre De Croo, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and European Union chief Ursula von der Leyen are seen attending this meeting. These leaders assured to stand by Ukraine for all kinds of help.
Dung thrown outside Russian ambassador’s residence
On Saturday, on the second anniversary of the Ukraine war, a large amount of dung was thrown in protest outside the residence of the Russian Ambassador in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Opponents of the Russian attack blared loud sirens and set off firecrackers outside the residences of some other Russian diplomats living in Warsaw.
