Roswell police arrest three on human trafficking charges

A Sandy Springs woman was one of three people arrested by Roswell Police on human trafficking charges in a multi-jurisdictional enforcement operation.

Three Sandy Springs addresses were among seven locations where search and arrest warrants were served on Aug. 22, the Roswell Police Department (RPD) said in a news release issued today.

Detectives with RPD’s Special Investigations Section began investigating the solicitation of prostitution in Roswell through the internet in March. That led to the discovery of a criminal enterprise operating out of apartments in Roswell and throughout the metro Atlanta area, with illicit massage or prostitution provided at those buildings, the release said.

The three individuals arrested on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and labor trafficking were Qin Zhen, 48, of Sandy Springs; Jeannot Joseph, 39, of Roswell; and Jinpei Li, 72, of Norcross.

Search warrants were served at these locations by the RPD with assistance from the Sandy Springs Police Department, DeKalb County Police, Gwinnett County Police, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation:

  • 6890 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Sandy Springs
  • 1050 Hammond Drive, Sandy Springs
  • 1105 Mount Vernon Hwy. NE, Sandy Springs
  • 2037 Weems Road, Tucker
  • 1006 Applegate Drive, Roswell
  • 900 Jameson Pass, Alpharetta
  • 4021 McGinnis Ferry Road, Suwanee

One victim was identified during the searches, increasing the known victims to three after two victims were located earlier this year as part of the investigation, the release said. Police uncovered significant evidence of additional human trafficking activities that will be pursued through further investigation.

The arrests came a little less than a year after RPD conducted a similar investigation last September that resulted in multiple arrests and the rescue of more than 50 human trafficking victims.

The investigation is ongoing with additional charges and arrests anticipated. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Fields at nfields@roswellgov.com or call 770-640-4455.
