One of the victims of a fatal Mattapan shooting, one of four shootings that occurred in a 12-hour span on Friday, has been identified by the school district and family members as a rising senior at Stoughton High School. 

Chrisitan Cousins, 17, was found alongside another unidentified Stoughton High student just before 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car in Mattapan, according to NBC10 Boston. 

He did not survive, according to officials. His loss is mourned by his community members, his family and his friends. 

“We have lost our beloved Christian Cousins. … Deeply loved by his family, he was someone very special to us. He loved to travel, exploring many countries with his family, and he was well-cultured with a deep appreciation for life,” Cousins’ family said in a statement to The Boston Globe Saturday night. 

The Stoughton Public School District sent an email out to parents Saturday mourning his loss, according to reports. 

“It is never easy to deal with the loss of a student, especially under these circumstances,” reads the school district’s statement. “Our thoughts are with Christian’s family, friends, and teachers, as well as the whole Stoughton High community.”

The other student, who remains unidentified, is expected to survive, according to NBC10 Boston. 

Boston Police Superintendent Felipe Colon told The Boston Globe the shooting did not appear random. 

The other three shootings included incidents that took place on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, on Shawmut Avenue in Roxbury, and on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester. 

The Roxbury shooting also ended in a fatality. Around 1:30 a.m., 40-year-old Warren Julien of Jamaica Plain was found suffering from a gunshot wound, according to officials. He was taken to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead, police said.

“It’s unacceptable and always devastating whenever we are at night woken up to lives taken in our city. Quick response at each of the situations. Good amount of info available and BPD is pursuing that,” said Mayor Michelle Wu.

Cousins’ family spoke about his gentleness and the violence that robbed them of experiencing his growth into adulthood as well, according to NBC10 Boston.

“Being a gentle soul, Christian freely extended love to his family and his close-knit circle of friends. Christian had an amazing future ahead of him. This senseless act of violence has deprived us of the opportunity to watch this young man achieve his full potential,” read another statement from Cousins’ family, according to the news outlet. 

No arrests have been made, according to officials. All four shootings remain under investigation.
