Devers’s fourth-inning long ball was good for the Red Sox’ first hit of the night off of the Cardinals on Saturday.
The Red Sox may be in the middle of a losing streak, but Rafael Devers isn’t letting that cool his bat down.
In fact, he’s come alive at the plate in four consecutive games, despite Boston falling in its last three contests. Devers hit his fourth home run in as many games on Saturday.
The left-handed hitter’s latest long ball was the Red Sox’ first hit of the night against St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas. Devers’s 431-foot home run to center field tied the game at one run apiece in the fourth inning.

Devers swung at a 79-mile-per-hour curveball that landed well below the strike zone, essentially golf-swinging at the pitch as he has done before in his career. He clubbed it several rows into the deepest part of Busch Stadium.
Boston had failed to get a single hit off of Mikolas entering the fourth inning. Mikolas came into the game with a 6.19 earned run average and hitters batting .311 against him.
Devers’s most recent home run marked the 180th of his MLB career. The 27-year-old is 13 homers away from tying Jason Varitek for the 11th-most in Red Sox history.
