Police have put out another call for New Yorkers to help find a man who fled from a wrong-way crash in Upper Manhattan that killed a groom-to-be the day before his wedding.
NYPD officials are looking for the man who was allegedly driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado southbound in the wrong lanes of the Henry Hudson Parkway near West 165th Street at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Police said he was fleeing the scene of another crash, and was being chased by a Toyota RAV4.
The Chevrolet pickup struck a northbound Dodge Challenger being driven by Kirk Walker, 38. Walker’s cousin Robert McLaurin, 40, was in the passenger seat. Both men were pronounced dead at local hospitals; Walker’s wedding was supposed to take place the very next day.
Police said the Chevrolet also hit an Audi S3, whose driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
After the Chevrolet came to a stop, police said the driver and a 21-year-old passenger got out of the car, which burst into flames. The passenger stayed at the scene of the crash, while the driver fled. Police made no immediate arrests.
On Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams spoke to Walker’s family and reportedly pledged $1,000 of his own money to anyone with information about the driver.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
