A man and a woman were killed Monday morning in what police were investigating as a potential murder-suicide in Brooklyn, authorities said.

According to NYPD officials, a 27-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were both found dead around 10:15 a.m. with gunshot wounds to their heads. They were in the kitchen area of an apartment on Avenue I and Ocean Avenue in Midwood, police said.

Police said the incident appeared to be related to a domestic dispute, and added that the two victims were not blood-related.

Their identities were not immediately released as police worked to notify their families, officials said.

They are the first victims of gun violence in the 70th Precinct so far this year, which includes Midwood, Fiske Terrace, Ditmas Park, and Prospect Park South, according to the NYPD.
