Naperville police say they are holding a ‘juvenile person of interest’ as they continue to investigate a shooting that injured a 22-year-old man early Tuesday afternoon.

Several schools, including Neuqua Valley High School, were placed on a soft lockdown Tuesday.

The shooting happened at around 1:30 p.m. on the 2500 block of Leach Drive. The victim’s wound is not life-threatening, according to Naperville police.

The shooter ran away in an unknown direction.

Cmdr. Rick Krakow said police believe the victim, who is from Naperville, was targeted, and there is no danger to the public.

The city advised residents in nearby neighborhoods, via the Naper Notify alert system, to shelter in place.
