Police charge 17-year old in Dunwoody shooting incident

Dunwoody police have charged a 17-year-old Macon teen with aggravated assault and other charges in connection with the shooting of a 39-year-old man at an apartment complex.

The shooting, according to a police statement, was related to an argument the two had regarding stolen property. The victim allegedly saw the suspect and confronted him about the item, “which escalated to the shooting,” the statement said.

Police were called to the Drexel Collective in the Perimeter Center area around 3:30 p.m. June 9 and found Edward Taylor of Dunwoody suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Grady Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Investigators found the suspect, Josiah Davis, on the property and took him into custody without incident. He is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of first-degree criminal damage, and possession of a handgun by a person under 18 years of age.

It appears, from DeKalb County jail records, that Davis was released on bond June 10.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
