According to the post, water flooded into the mainstage, backstage, costume shops , dressing rooms, hallway and lobby areas. Incoming donations to Out Front will be used to help repair the damages.

“We are devastated by the impact of Hurricane Helene here at Out Front Theatre Company,” Paul Conroy, founder and producing artistic director of Out Front, in an emailed statement. “We are working as quickly as we can to clean up, and the immediate support from our community has been incredible to see. Our mission has always been to foster a space that uplifts LGBTQIA+ voices, and while this setback is challenging, we are resilient. We look forward to continuing rehearsals and welcoming our audience and community back into the theater soon.”

Out Front is in the middle of rehearsals for its upcoming production of “Hairspray,” which is set to run Oct. 24 – Nov. 9.

Besides Out Front, other theaters in the city seem to have come out relatively unscathed in the face of Helene. The Fox Theatre did not sustain any damages, but did cancel the Sept. 26 Khruangbin show.

Whole World Improv Theatre Company had some minor flooding, but will remain open for shows this weekend.

Theatrical Outfit reported no damages, but canceled a Sept. 26 performance of “A Raisin in the Sun.” The theater was, however, able to add an extra performance next week. The performance tonight will go on as planned.

Shakespeare Tavern also canceled a Sept. 26 performance, but is proceeding with the weekend as previously planned.
