Sandy Springs plans an open house on Oct. 17 for the public to learn more about a project to realign and add a traffic signal to the Mount Vernon Highway-Long Island Drive intersection.
The open house will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the second-floor Barfield Conference Room at Sandy Springs City Hall, 1 Galambos Way, a news release said. A scheduling conflict caused a change in the date for this open house.
The alignment of the intersection limits sight distance for motorists turning onto Mount Vernon Highway from Long Island Drive. The project will install a new traffic signal, widen the roadway, realign the Arlington Cemetery Driveway, and add new sidewalks.
Other improvements will upgrade striping and signage. The release said the project will connect the recently completed Mount Vernon Highway sidewalk improvements.
The project requires right-of-way acquisition and utility coordination.
