O-Ku’s Fabricio Andrade shares Westside Cocktail recipe


As the weather cools off, there’s nothing better than this Westside Cocktail from O-Ku to warm you up.

This cocktail comes from the mind of O-Ku Bar Lead Fabricio Andrade. It’s an Old Fashioned-style cocktail, pairing Angostura bitters with Horyzon whiskey and a delicious brown sugar Georgia pecan syrup. 

“That first sip introduces the sweet brown sugar caramelized pecans complementing the stewed stone fruit flavors of the Horyzon,” Andrade said. “The Westside is the perfect cocktail to sip on a crisp night watching the sunset from our rooftop at O-Ku with friends and family.”

O-Ku Westside Cocktail Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Horyzon Spirits Blended Rice Whiskey (Black Label)
  • 0.5 oz Brown Sugar Pecan Syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 1 Orange peel (garnish)

Brown Sugar Pecan Syrup:

  • 32 oz Georgia Pecans
  • 24 oz Brown Sugar
  • 32 oz Water

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients into a mixing glass and stir.
  2. Pour over a large single ice cube.
  3. Garnish with an orange peel.

Brown Sugar Pecan Syrup:

  1. Gather all ingredients in a large pot and leave to boil on stove top for 20 minutes.
  2. Turn off the heat and let the mixture settle for 10 minutes.
  3. Strain out the pecans and bottle the remaining syrup for the cocktail.
