Naperville firefighters extinguish blaze at condo complex

Naperville firefighters battled a blaze early Sunday morning at the Winchester Place Condominium complex on the city’s southwest side, authorities said.

No injuries were immediately reported in the fire, which caused an estimated $10,000 in damage, according to the Naperville Fire Department.

Officials said the fire was reported to the Naperville Emergency Communications Center at about 12:56 a.m. through an activated alarm. A 911 call to the center followed about two minutes later, officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the scene at 1:02 a.m. to find flames on the exterior of the building. They deployed a handline to extinguish the fire, performed a search of the building, and conducted overhaul operations to prevent the fire from spreading, according to the fire department.

The fire was deemed under control at 1:11 a.m., but firefighters remained on the scene until 2 a.m. to ensure the building was secured, officials said.

Authorities did not report a suspected cause of the fire Sunday.
