Agave Bandido, with its vibrant murals and Mexican-inspired food menu, opened in Dunwoody’s High Street development, touting “over-the-top” dishes, cocktails and service.

This is the first location of Agave Bandido outside of Florida for co-owners Matt Faul and Mat Baum, who were attracted by the explosive growth of the Perimeter area and High Street’s emergence as a force in the work-live-play arena in Atlanta.

“One of our missions is to bring a downtown restaurant vibe to densely populated areas like here,” Faul said. “High Street was the perfect place for that with its mix of high-powered tenants coming here.”

The menu at Agave Bandido features dishes like vegetarian flautas, churrasco chimichurri, and chicken enchiladas, as well as carnitas, barbacoa, and birria street tacos and table-side guacamole. Look for other dishes like burritos, chimichangas, and fajitas.

The exterior of Agave Bandido is adorned with larger-than-life murals by Miami-based artist Ruben Ubiera, who created the murals entirely by hand with cans of spray paint.

“While our decor can be described as over-the-top, we want to carry that concept forward to our food, drinks, and customer service,” Faul said. “We want our service to match the decor.”

To complement the cuisine, Agave Bandido offers a wide selection of premium tequilas and handcrafted cocktails. A weekday happy hour takes place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. offering food and drink specials, including $4 tacos, $4 beers, and $6 margaritas.

The restaurant also features a hidden speakeasy called Maya SpeakTiki, open by reservation only, Wednesday through Saturday. The space seats around 80 people and is available for private events.

High Street officials say that Agave Bandido is a welcome addition to the complex.

“At High Street, you’re not just shopping at a store or eating at a restaurant – you’re getting an immersive community experience,” Ian Ward, Senior Vice President at GID, the developer of High Street, said. “Each one of our tenants brings something unique to the Perimeter and we are thrilled to see their spaces come alive.”

Florida residents displaced by Hurricanes Helene and Milton dining at Agave Bandido can take advantage of a 20% discount by showing their Florida identification.

In addition to Agave Bandido, open restaurants and retailers at High Street include South African fast-casual restaurant Nando’s, ice cream spot Ben & Jerry’s, skincare spa Skin Spirit, taco restaurant Velvet Taco, and luxury menswear store Allen Edmonds.

Puttshack will have its grand opening celebration on Nov. 6.  Other concepts coming to High Street include the Italian Rosetta Bakery, The NOW Massage, coastal-inspired The Hampton Social, nail salon Sugarcoat, sushi restaurant Cuddlefish, and “eater-tainment” concept Jaguar Bolera.

High Street also features apartments and offices overlooking the plaza at the development.
