Two kids and an adult got out of the water safely, while a man’s body was recovered from the lake, officials said.

Officials are investigating a suspected drowning of a man after his canoe capsized Sunday morning on a lake in Halifax. 

Police responded to reports of a capsized canoe and several people in the water just before 11 a.m., Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz’s office said in a statement to The Boston Globe. Police responded to the boat ramp of 47 White Island Road in Halifax, Cruz said in a post on X. 

Cruz said State Police, Halifax Police, and Massachusetts Environmental Police were all part of the investigation into the man’s death. 

One adult and two children had gotten out of the water safely, the Globe reported, but the man was missing in the water. 

A dive team located the man at about 12:45 p.m., Cruz’s office told the Globe. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Cruz’s office did not immediately respond to requests for information by Boston.com Monday afternoon.
