Linus Ullmark’s goodbye: The Bruins recently opted to trade goaltender Linus Ullmark, breaking up one of the league’s best tandems at the position. It ends a partnership with fellow Boston goalie Jeremy Swayman, one which Bruins fans came to enjoy.
Ullmark, 30, now heads to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for the 25th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, forward Mark Kastelic, and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.
But while he’s on his way out, Ullmark decided to leave a message for Bruins teammates, coaches, staff, and fans.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you,” he began in an Instagram post. “To all the wonderful teammates, coaches, trainers, workers, chefs, management, the bull gang, and most of all, you Bruins fans. The memories I’ve accumulated during my stay in Boston are too many to count and I will always cherish the friendships and bonds you’ve helped create.”
The Swede initially came to the Bruins as a free agent in 2021 after departing Buffalo, signing a four-year, $20 million contract.
Shouting out some of his favorite moments from his time in Boston, Ullmark cited — among others things — “Christmas toy shopping for Children’s Hospital (to name one of them),” and even hearing fans sing “Sweet Caroline” at the Fenway Park Winter Classic.
