Conor Secrist delivered a game-winning single in the last of the ninth to give No. 2 St. John’s (Shrewsbury) (19-3) a 7-6 win over Catholic Conference rival St. John’s Prep in a Div. 1 quarterfinal.
Ty Gilmore tossed a complete-game three-hitter as No. 1 Georgetown (22-1) rolled to a 9-2 win over No. 9 Hopkins Academy in a Div. 5 state quarterfinal contest. Carter Lucido contributed a two-run double, while Jake Gilbo homered for the Royals.
Girls lacrosse
Scarlett Mirak (hat trick), Karleigh Mutch (two goals), Teagan Morrissey, Sarah Fortier and Charlotte Skelly found the net for No. 4 Concord-Carlisle (18-5) in an 8-4 Div. 1 quarterfinal win over No. 5 Weymouth.
Halle Greenleaf scored five goals and added an assist, while Allie Wile added four goals as No. 4 Ipswich (18-1) doubled up on fifth-seeded Sandwich in a Div. 4 quarterfinal.

Softball
After trailing by nine runs, third-seeded Hudson rallied to a 10-9 Div. 3 state quarterfinal win over No. 6 Triton with a three-run seventh inning.
Class notes
All-Scholastic pitcher Samantha Lincoln of Taunton was named the Gatorade Massachusetts Softball Player of the Year. The left-hander has a 16-0 record with an 0.27 ERA and has allowed just 30 hits in 105 innings with 228 strikeouts. An excellent student with a 4.25 GPA, Lincoln will pitch at Texas Tech in the fall.
