Pennsylvania, and Philly specifically, remained the focus of this national presidential election, with both parties criss-crossing the state on the final day of the campaign season. It culminated around midnight in Philly, with Oprah Winfrey hugging Vice President Kamala Harris in front of a crowd of about 30,000 gathered before the Museum of Art. But not before Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin and a long list of speakers implored the crowd, on site and watching on TV, to vote.
Billy Penn’s Celia Bernhardt was there, talking to folks in the crowd and getting the mood of the crowd, which was a mixture of excitement, weariness and anxiety.

Until recently, SEPTA riders most of the time had no way of knowing that their bus wasn’t ever going to come — that it was a “ghost bus,” showing up in an app or schedule but not in real life.
Now, at least, they can know and plan accordingly, with the SEPTA app alerting users with a “Trip canceled” notice.
The change came after about 15 people from different SEPTA departments — including information design, planning, on-street bus operations, and the control center — held an all-day workshop in January to figure out how to devise the fix. Continue reading…
