Extra Extra: A NJ town is planning a mass killing of geese

It’s Thursday afternoon in New York City and whether you’re running in the NYRR Brooklyn Half Marathon this Saturday or not, we have what you need to know.

Here’s what else is happening:

  • Four falcon chicks hatched atop the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo bridge and a contest is now being held to name them, with options such as Coco Puff and Millenium Falcon.
  • McDonald’s is debuting a $5 meal bundle as the company looks to offer more reasonably-priced options after losing “its lead on affordability in a few U.S. markets.”
  • In other McDonald’s news, over in the UK, McDonald’s did away with the signature smile printed on the Happy Meal box in honor of Mental Health Awareness Week, rebranding as just “The Meal.”
  • New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office settled a lawsuit with DoorDash after the company was accused of not hiring people with criminal histories, which violates New York City’s Fair Chance Act.
  • Residents of a New Jersey town are trying to stop officials from gassing a bunch of geese to death because they like to poop all over a local park.
  • The Governors Island sheep are back and reporting for duty clearing invasive plants from the island.
  • The iconic Mirage hotel and casino in Las Vegas is closing. In its place will be a Hard Rock guitar-shaped casino and hotel akin to their Florida location.
  • And finally, first time for everything:
