When patients arrived at the new Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital on Sept. 29, they were greeted by a fuzzy friend.
Brook the Bear is a blue stuffed animal wearing a t-shirt with Brookhaven’s city colors of blue and green. Brook was created for Children’s Healthcare by Explore Brookhaven, the tourism arm of the city.
Brook was modeled after the Brookhaven Police Department’s Barry the Bear, a friendly bear dressed as a police officer.
“On behalf of the citizens of Brookhaven, Explore Brookhaven welcomes all the patients to Brookhaven. We hope that Brook the Bear will give each of them a sense of comfort and belonging, said Renée Areng, president and CEO of Explore Brookhaven.
Additional bears are available for purchase at Explore Brookhaven in Town Brookhaven shopping plaza or through the website.
“We are so grateful to the Atlanta community who rallied around the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta move from Egleston Hospital to Arthur M. Blank Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 29said Sam Hosokawa, vice president of Patient Experience at Children’s. “Thank you to community groups who contributed items to a welcome bag for patients to enjoy upon their arrival to their new rooms. A special thank you to the Atlanta Falcons, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and Explore Brookhaven.”
