School calendars are helpful for parents who need to know when holidays and other events are scheduled.

Here, we’ve included a copy of the 2024-2025 City Schools of Decatur calendar so that you can plan for the upcoming year. 

City Schools of Decatur, GA includes 11 elementary, middle, and high schools in the city. It is different than the school calendar for DeKalb County Schools which can be found here.

First day of school

The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year in Decatur is Tues., July 30, 2024. (Teachers report to work on Mon., July 22.)

Holidays and breaks

The first break is Labor Day on Mon., Sept. 2, 2024.

Fall Break is Mon., Sept. 23 – Fri., Sept. 27, 2024. School resumes on Mon., Sept. 30.

Tues., Nov. 5 is a “Digital Learning Day.” It’s also Election Day.

Thanksgiving break will begin on Mon., Nov. 25, 2024, and end on Fri., Nov. 29, 2024.

Winter break will start on Fri., Dec. 20, 2024, and end on Mon., Jan. 6, 2025. The second Semester begins on Tues., Jan 7, 2025.

MLK Holiday is Mon, Jan. 20, 2025

A second Winter Break is Mon., Feb. 17-Fri., Feb. 21. School resumes on Mon., Feb. 24.

Fri., March 7 is an “Independent Learner Day/Professional Development Day.”

Spring break will begin on Mon., April 7, 2025, and end on Fri., April 11, 2025.

Finally, the last day of school will be Fri., May 23, 2025.
