A city committee wanting more answers about the Atlanta water crisis will have to wait another month for answers.

The Atlanta City Council utilities committee was slated to meet June 11 with watershed officials and other authorities to discuss the water main breaks last weekend that left much of the city without water for several days.

On Friday afternoon, the Atlanta City Council communications department sent out a news release and posted to social media the June 11 meeting was now to be held July 9.

Councilmember Antonio Lewis, chair of the utilities commission, announced the June 11 meeting during the council’s June 3 meeting. He said the meeting was needed “to address the state of emergency that has occurred in our city.”

Lewis said the city code authorizes council committees to hold hearings and investigations of city operations. Committees can subpoena witnesses, take testimony and demand documents be turned over, Lewis said.

Lewis could not be immediately reached for comment.
