Che Butter Jonez opened in its new digs on Lavista Road in Brookhaven this week. Owners Malik Rhasaan and Detric Fox-Quinlan announced the relocation of their South Atlanta restaurant with its Queens, New York-inspired menu earlier this summer.
Fox-Quinlan described Che Butter Jonez as “refined ratchet, like Russell Simmons in a tuxedo and a pair of Adidas.”
Just don’t call it a burger place.
Expect the Brookhaven location to have the same vibe as Che Butter Jonez in South Atlanta, “Comfortable. Like you’re visiting your cousin’s house who added a small grocery to the back,” said Fox-Quinlan.
But gone are the days of the Che Butter Jonez food truck and the Cleveland Avenue restaurant beside a Chevron gas station. While the grocery is still being stocked in Brookhaven, the restaurant opened for breakfast and lunch this week, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours will expand further next week.

The breakfast menu in Brookhaven features egg and cheese biscuits with a choice of Halal beef bacon, Halal beef sausage, turkey sausage, or pastrami, along with bagels, croissants, and other baked goods.
Look for popular favorites during lunch, including the Che Butter Jonez lamb burger.
“The lamb burger is our staple. We stand on that burger,” said Fox-Quinlan. The smashed lamb burger comes topped with caramelized onions and Serrano peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, and herby house-made “Che Sauce” on a buttery brioche bun.
But there are new dishes, too, like The ODB made with two Halal beef patties, Halal beef bacon, smoked gouda, chimichurri sauce, and Peruvian aji verde on a brioche bun. The ODB was such a hit at the recent Giving Kitchen Burger Benefit the couple decided to put it on the menu in Brookhaven.
Another new dish not to be missed, according to Fox-Quinlan, is the Kojak. The toasted pita comes stuffed with grilled Halal chicken, spinach, tomatoes, onions and feta cheese dressed with a duo of Che Sauce and hot sauce.
As for their Queens, New York-inspired restaurant, Butter + Scotch, that should finally open this fall at the new Origin Hotel at the corner of Pryor and Mitchell in downtown Atlanta. Fox-Quinlan said construction issues significantly delayed the opening of the hotel and Butter + Scotch.
