Chain reaction crash on I-285 West leaves one dead, five injured


One person was killed and five others injured in an early morning multiple-vehicle crash on I-285 West near Chamblee Dunwoody Road July 8.

Dunwoody police responded to the crash at 4:48 a.m. and found six vehicles that had been involved in the incident, which involved an initial crash and a subsequent chain reaction from a second wreck.

“Three vehicles were involved in a crash at the above location,” a statement from the Dunwoody Police said. “A second collision occurred causing a chain reaction with several other vehicles. One of the drivers involved in the initial crash was outside their vehicle and struck by other vehicles.”

The driver, who has not be identified, succumbed to their injuries on scene. Five other people involved in the crash were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
