Jaylen Brown is dealing with a few lingering injuries heading into the Celtics’ final stretch of the regular season.

Joe Mazzulla and the Celtics elected to sit Brown for Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. But, even with the league’s best record already clinched and six games left (including Friday), it seems resting Brown for this entire stretch isn’t in the cards.

“He made it through [Wednesday’s] game well. I think it’s just managing the guys throughout the rest of the season,” Mazzulla said before Friday’s matchup.

When asked if he would consider shutting Brown down for the final six games, Mazzulla replied, “No, he’s good.”

Brown has been a pillar of Boston’s success in recent years, alongside fellow star Jayson Tatum. He’ll be an integral part of the Celtics’ postseason run on both sides of the ball, so any positive health updates will be sighs of relief for fans in Boston.

A few games ago, Brown ran through a list of different minor ailments he suffered while playing the Pelicans. But, he also stressed none of those were major. Mazzulla’s recent comments reinforce the common belief that nothing is overly serious when it comes to Brown’s health.

Brown is averaging 23.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game this season. He’s also played in 67 games and was named an NBA All-Star for the third time in his career.

Being on the floor with the Celtics’ other four starters is what’s made many believe Boston is the favorite to win the NBA Championship this season. A little bit of load management ahead of a potentially long playoff run should make sure that starting five can stay intact through the postseason.
