Twelve 4k50-RGB pure laser projectors were used to light up the TD Garden ice.
While the Bruins have rolled out fan banner captains for years during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, TD Garden did unveil a few more special surprises in Boston’s home barn ahead of Game 1 against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
Both before warmups and during a special pregame ceremony, the TD Garden ice surface served as a canvas for a laser projection show.
Boston teamed up with Quince Imaging to incorporate RGB laser projection mapping technology into their game presentation for the 2024 postseason.
The process involved 12 4k50-RGB pure laser projectors rigged from the Garden rafters, creating an impressive full-ice projection show. This marks the first use of RGB laser projection tech used in the NHL.

The Bruins might be looking ahead in hopes of another fruitful playoff run. But in keeping with the centennial-season festivities, Boston also looked to the past as part of their annual fan-banner captain tradition during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
For Game 1, the Bruins welcomed back former goalie and 1988 playoff hero Reggie Lemelin. The Bruins plan on bringing back a “playoff hero” to serve as fan banner captain for each of the team’s home games on Causeway Street.
