The second Brookhaven International Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20, on the Peachtree Creek Greenway.
Running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, the event features live music and dancing, cultural performances, food, a global marketplace, and a lowrider car show.
Brookhaven is buzzing about the Cielo Tejido (Woven Sky) art installation, originating from Jalisco, Mexico. It is a 656-ft. hand-woven canopy that will envelop the Peachtree Creek Greenway overlook bridge near the trailhead at 1801 Corporate Blvd.
“This internationally-renowned exhibit not only represents an artistic masterpiece, but it also embodies the cultural values that we hold dear in Brookhaven. Like this exhibit, we are all woven together and better together as a celebration of our diverse cultures,” said Brookhaven City Councilmember John Funny.
Tejido is a community art project created by mother-daughter team Paloma and Lorena Ron, along with more than 200 women who are passionate about the art of weaving.
