Brookhaven City Council is partnering with the Latin American Association to distribute turkeys to hundreds of local families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The giveaway will be held from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Latin American Association, 2750 Buford Highway NE. Families must register in advance and are encouraged to arrive early. Turkeys will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Brookhaven City Council member John Funny and LAA volunteers will be on hand to distribute turkeys to District 4 and nearby residents.
The collaborative event aims to uplift and support the area’s diverse population by ensuring that families have a memorable holiday meal to share, according to a press release.
“We are proud to work alongside the Latin American Association, an organization dedicated to serving Brookhaven’s Hispanic and Latino community,” said Funny. “As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s crucial that we come together to help those who may be facing challenges this season. This event is our way of giving back and making sure every family can enjoy a warm meal with their loved ones.”
LAA has a longstanding mission to empower and assist the Hispanic and Latino communities through social, educational, and economic initiatives. LAA has received widespread support from local businesses and community members who have contributed turkeys and other essentials for the event.
“We are deeply grateful for Councilman Funny’s support in helping us make this event a success. With this giveaway, we hope to ease some of the burdens on families and help bring a sense of togetherness to all during Thanksgiving,” said LAA President Santiago Marquez.
