Runners can bring their dogs along for the Blue Stone 5K-9 race on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The race takes place during the Blue Stone Art and Music Festival. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome with or without their dogs, race organizers said in a news release. The route is a primarily flat and goes down and back.

Dogs must be kept on a short non-retractable leash no longer than 6 feet long. Dogs must remain leashed, under control, and well-mannered. Runners with dogs are asked to attach the leash to a harness, not the dog’s collar.

Catalyst Sports will partner with Sandy Springs Recreation & Parks to provide a limited number of adaptive hand cycle bikes available to borrow for people with disabilities. Those interested in reserving an adaptive cycle can email gillian@catalystsports.org.

Race T-shirts are guaranteed to anyone registered by 4 p.m. on Aug. 29. After that date they will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.

Runners can pick up race packets from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, at Century East parking lot at 6100 Lake Forest Drive in Sandy Springs. Runners who miss that opportunity can pick up their packets at the Start/Finish line before 7:30 a.m. on race day.

The race will start promptly at 8 a.m. and end at 9:30 a.m. Runners can park at Century East parking lot. It is then a short walk to the Start/Finish line at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Activities Center, located at 6150 Sandy Springs Circle.

Porta-potties will be available at the Century East parking lot, but not at the church parking lot. Runners should arrive early to give themselves enough time to navigate road closures and traffic and walk to the Start/Finish line. Friends or family members who decide to participate at the last minute may register onsite at the Start/Finish line before 7:30 a.m.
