McCarthy will receive the honor at Fintech South, a two-day event scheduled for Aug. 27-28 at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. The ceremony will include a presentation on the Main Stage of Atlanta Symphony Hall.

“Barry is a remarkable business leader and a transformative powerhouse who has made significant contributions to revolutionizing the fintech and payments industries,” said Larry K. Williams, President and CEO of TAG.

McCarthy leads Deluxe, a 109-year-old company that processes nearly $3 trillion in electronic payments annually, equivalent to about 15% of the U.S. GDP.

Prior to Deluxe, McCarthy held leadership roles at First Data (now Fiserv) for 14 years, and he co-founded and sold MagnaCash, a Silicon Valley micro-payments company, and created the first cloud-based ATMs while at Wells Fargo.

“I am truly honored and humbled,” McCarthy said in a press release. “The Georgia Fintech Hall of Fame is a who’s who of industry giants, and I extend my gratitude to TAG and our fintech community for this recognition.”

McCarthy has also served as the chair of TAG, founding chair of Fintech Atlanta, and board chair for the American Transaction Processors Coalition.

The induction will take place during Fintech South, the southeast’s largest event dedicated to financial innovation. The 2024 event is expected to bring together more than 1,000 leaders from across the fintech ecosystem.
