Atlanta marks Hamas attacks anniversary with memorial events

Mon., Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. – The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and the Consul General of Israel to the Southeast United States are hosting a community-wide gathering to honor the memory of the victims of Hamas’ brutal attack on the Nova Music Festival, kibbutzim, and the people of Israel. Doors open early.

Note: Parking for the event is limited. Organizers are encouraging carpooling, public transportation, Uber/Lyft, or parking at a designated location and taking the shuttle.

Tues., Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. – The ADL hosts a regular webinar called “Fighting Hate from Home.” Join “An October 8th World: The Surge in Antisemitism and the Path Forward” to explore the unprecedented rise in antisemitic incidents worldwide, the ongoing hostage crisis with 101 people still being held captive by Hamas, and the alarming climate of antisemitism and anti-Zionism on college campuses.

Thurs., Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. – Jewish Women’s Connection of Atlanta has invited Elinor Bitton Bariach to speak about her survival on Oct. 7. “We’re Not Broken, Just Bent” is being held in Sandy Springs. The cost is $18.

Thurs., Oct. 24 at 6:15 p.m. – Congregation Bet Haverim and Ma’alot are marking the significance of being together on the anniversary of the Simchat Torah massacre with music, dancing, and heartfelt celebration as the Torah reading cycle comes to an end and begins anew. All ages are welcome. Pizza dinner will start at 6:15 p.m. followed by the celebration at 6:45 p.m.

Sun., Oct. 27 from 2-5 p.m. – Israel in Atlanta and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta invite the community to focus on resilience, healing, and the many ways to connect with Israel. This event will include interactive art projects, spiritual workshops, and learning opportunities. Registration is required
