ASO’s Día de los Muertos Festival

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is hosting its third annual Día de los Muertos Festival on Saturday, Nov. 2, from noon to 5 p.m. at The Woodruff Arts Center.

This free, family-friendly festival is open to the public and will include live mariachi music, stilt walkers, interactive photo booths, and a children’s area with face painting, storytelling, and games with prizes. Attendees can also watch a horse exhibition by Rancho Los Gallos de Oro and dance performances by Grupo Folklorico Itzamatul and Latin Just Dance. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra violinist Juan R. Ramírez Hernández will perform twice with Mariachi Pepe Lopez at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Local Mexican American community organizations and vendors will be on-site with food trucks with traditional food and drinks available for purchase. All festival activities will take place either outside on Callaway Plaza or inside the lobby of the Memorial Arts Building.

Later that evening, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will present Ghostbusters in Concert, featuring a screening of the timeless classic with the musical score performed live to the film. This year will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film’s release. The concert will be led by conductor Thiago Tiberio.

While admission to the festival is free, tickets are required for the Ghostbusters in Concert performances. Tickets can be purchased at aso.org and ticketmaster.com
