Weirdo,” a witty graphic novel memoir that follows an awkward preteen, Tony Weaver Jr. as he navigates struggles throughout his childhood. This event is free, but make sure to reserve your spot.
On Fri., Sept 20 at 7 p.m., Acapella Books will welcome Zadie Smith in honor of her New York Times bestseller “The Fraud” alongside local Atlanta author Tayari Jones, award-winning author of “An American Marriage,” in the new SCADshow theater. Tickets are $20 and include a hand-signed copy of “The Fraud.”
On Tues., Sept 24 at 6 p.m., author Ann Patchett and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will share their latest picture book collaboration “The Verts: A Story of Introverts and Extroverts!” In partnership with the Georgia Center for the Book and Conservations at First Baptists Decatur, this is an event for readers of all ages! Tickets are free, but registration is required. Make sure to reserve a ticket for each member of your party.
Also on Tues., Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., join best-selling historian and Pulitzer Prize finalist H.W. Brands at the Atlanta History Center for an engaging discussion of his latest book, “America First: Roosevelt vs. Lindbergh in the Shadow of War.” This event will take place at McElreath Hall! Tickets are $12 for non-members, $6 for members, and free for Insiders.
On Sat., Sept 28 at 8 p.m., the second annual All Voices Poetry Slam opens the floor to local poets to showcase their talent. The first twelve to sign up SLAM! Hosted by Theresa Davis at the ArtsXchange venue, come to witness the magic of spoken word poetry. Tickets are $20 if you purchase in advance and $25 at the door.
Also on Sat., Sept. 28 at 1 p.m., local author Deidre DeLaughter takes the stage at the Atlanta Public Library to chat about her captivating novel, “A Rose in Little Five Points.” The story follows Meredith Fields on her journey through self-doubt, family drama, and life’s unexpected twists. The event is completely free, so bring a friend or two!
On Sun., Sept 29 at 12 p.m., the Johns Creek Literary Fair will feature Pulitzer Prize-winning author Rick Bragg. He will be joined by numerous local, regional, and nationally known writers including Brian Panowich, award-winning Georgia-based author of four novels. This event is free and open to the public.
On Mon., Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., Mary Ellen Curtin will discuss her new biography, “She Changed the Nation: Barbra Jordan’s Life and Legacy in Black Politics” at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. This event is free and open to the public. Copies of Curtin’s book will also be available for purchase at the venue.
On Oct., 3 at 6:30 p.m., join the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation as they welcome internationally bestselling author Tracy Enerson Wood for a special book talk on her latest novel, “Katharine, the Wright Sister.” Tickets are free, but registration is required as space is limited. Following the book talk, there will be a book signing.
