American leaders talked to the PA President several times
America has started making a plan several weeks ago to remove Hamas from power in the Gaza Strip. America wants that after the war in Gaza, the PA should form a moderate government there and there should be no conflict with Israel. In this regard, American leaders have talked to PA President Mahmoud Abbas several times.
The PA has been in power in the West Bank, which has a majority Palestinian population, for the past several years. But PA Prime Minister Shtayyeh did not agree with the US plan and resigned on Monday. The President has not yet accepted his resignation and has asked him to act as acting Prime Minister.
Palestinian fighters and a cache of weapons recovered
Meanwhile, the Israeli army has given up control of the largest Nasser Hospital in Gaza’s Khan Younis city. The army has said that it has arrested about 200 Palestinian fighters from there and recovered a cache of weapons.
The seized weapons were brought hidden in medicine boxes and were kept in them. The Israeli military said medical activities continued at the hospital throughout its operation.
Israel attacks in the middle of Lebanon
Israel launched an airstrike in the center of Lebanon on Monday. Two fighters of Iran-backed armed organization Hezbollah have been killed in this attack. This is Israel’s longest-range attack in Lebanon in the ongoing clashes with Hezbollah since October 2023.
Israel carried out this attack when one of its attack drones was shot down by Hezbollah fighters. The Israeli military has said that its fighter planes targeted and destroyed Hezbollah’s air defense systems in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.
