Here, we’ve included a copy of the 2024-2025 Atlanta Public Schools (APS) calendar so that you can plan for the upcoming year.
APS includes schools and students in Fulton and DeKalb counties and other cities.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is a graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School, which is part of APS. Here’s a list of other famous APS graduates.
First day of school
The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year is Thurs., Aug. 1, 2024.
Holidays and breaks
The school year calendar includes several holidays and breaks.
The first school holiday is Labor Day on Mon., Sept. 2, 2024.
Mon., Oct. 14 is a school holiday for Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and the rest of that week is a holiday for Fall Break is Tues., Oct. 15 – Fri., Oct. 18, 2024. School resumes on Mon., Oct. 21.
Tues., Nov. 5 is a “Teacher/Professional Learning Day.” It’s also Election Day.
Thanksgiving break will begin on Mon., Nov. 25, 2024, and end on Fri., Nov. 29, 2024.
Winter break will start on Mon., Dec. 23, 2024, and end on Mon., Jan. 6, 2025. The second Semester begins on Tues., Jan 7, 2025.
MLK Holiday is Mon, Jan. 20, 2025
A second Winter Break is Mon., Feb. 17-Fri., Feb. 21. School resumes on Mon., Feb. 24.
Mon., March 17 is an “Independent Learner Day/Professional Development Day.”
Spring Break will begin on Mon., April 7, and end on Fri., April 11.
Mon., May 26 is Memorial Day and schools are closed.
Finally, the last day of school will be Thur., May 29, 2025.
