A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in Lawrence Saturday night, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said.

Lawrence police responded to the area of Brook Street just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, District Attorney Paul Tucker said in a statement. There, they found the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital. Officials had not publicly identified him as of Sunday night.

The incident is under active investigation, and officials are asking for anyone who may have information to come forward, Tucker said.
